LINDA'S CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCEMEN

HONDA'S VOTING RECORD

paid for by

LINDA RAE HERMANN
FOR CONGRESS COMMITTEE

LINDA RAE HERMANN
recently ran for

REPUBLICAN PARTY
U.S. CONGRESS
DISTRICT 15

and garnered 31% of the vote against incumbent Mike Honda

I am now one of the presenters for the Coalition for Redevelopment Reform. The activities of RDA in this area have moved beyond the scope of their original purpose. Eminent domain is now being used to profit developers and lawyers more than provide for public buildings and roads. In the future, it will be tied to smart growth plans and transit-oriented development to change the look and housing of San Jose to fit an idea that is already failing in many Cities--including Portland. It is really central planning.

Linda Writes on Feb 9, 2003

Hi everyone--here is an update of my activities: I have a new email address, see above, and it is active now. The other email address will be active for a few more weeks-- lindarae1@sbcglobal.net

ACTIVITIES:
working with neighborhood groups and made a presentation at the United Neighborhood of Santa Clara County board meeting last week. I am recommending a more active role for UNSCC in getting neighborhood groups onto land-use task forces. Faith-based assemblies are also becoming concerned about land-use issues. I wouldn't be surprised if both don't run or support new local candidates to replace non-responsive City Council and County Supervisor candidates in the near future.

A member of the Association of Republican Women's board as the Community Activist organizer. Speaking at the West Valley Republican Women's meeting on March 20 at 11:30 am. I will be talking about local implementation of Smart Growth and transit plans among other things.

Chairman of Presentations and the Education Committee for the Coalition of Redevelopment Reform--meeting this Thursday evening, 7:00 at Luther Burbank School.

I am not sure yet my plans as a future candidate, but you could help me make that decision by answering the a short survey, for all who live in the 24th Assembly District. Your answers will be kept confidential. Thank you.

R. Michael Babowal, II did most of the work on this survey. Thank you Michael. Ed and I are doing very well. He has regained his strength and is as feisty as ever.

We hope you are all doing well--

Linda and Ed

STATEMENT OF BELIEFS AND GOALS

I support protecting businesses from excessive governmental regulations and initiating various tax credits and reductions in capital gains taxes to stimulate national and local industry.

I support the Anti-Terrorism Act, Trade Promotion Authority Act, President Bush's Tax Cut Package, Homeland Security Department and Stimulus Package.

I will bring federal funding to Santa Clara County's police, fire and emergency services departments to provide protection from and response to terrorist attacks

I believe government should provide a safety net for its citizens, and Social Security, Medicare, and Prescription Drugs require reforms to make them fair and secure.

I will promote academic excellence in our school system by restoring methods that work, concentrating on the basics, and holding schools accountable with national and state testing.

I support common sense, scientifically based environmentalism.

I believe government should safeguard equal opportunity and promote self-reliance.

I believe the framers of our Constitution were brilliant, and we need to restore the checks and balances that protect liberty and justice.

I believe the federal government's first priority at this time is to provide the highest degree of national security possible as well as defeating terrorism.

I support the plan for fighting terrorism initiated by the Bush Administration.

I believe we need politicians who see political office as a higher calling, putting the common good before personal ambition.

I believe marriage is sacred contract between a man and a woman.

I support balanced, scientifically based environmentalism.

I believe government should safeguard equal opportunity and promote self-reliance.

I believe government should provide a safety net for its citizens, and some agencies are required to enforce the complex laws of this modern age.

I support protecting private property from excessive governmental control.

I believe liberty is best preserved by providing equal opportunity—not mass equality.

I believe human life is sacred and more important than the life of animals and plants.
